Hello MHM Instructors!

Where did the season go? Tomorrow is the last day of operations for the 2017-18 Season and we’ll be closing with a 68” base and 123” mid-mountain – wow! And Sunday is the employee ski/ride day + employee party, so plan to come up for both days. The weather looks great both days! See details below about end of season procedures and the employee PAR-TAY!

Will you teach the last lesson of the season?

Someone will be the lucky instructor to teach the final lesson of the season – maybe it will be you? There are currently 4 Kids lessons and 3 Adult lessons pre-sold, plus we’ll get some walk in business. Come on up and be one of the lucky instructors who gets to enrich lives one more time before the snow melts. If you are coming up please let us know by using the pickup shift form: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/schedule-change-requests

End of the Season Procedures

Please be sure to clean out your locker, return all uniform pieces to laundry, place your nametag in the basket on the table in the instructor lounge and be sure to take any personal gear home for the summer.  Any gear left over after May 13th will be donated. New PSIA-AASI NW Divisional Clinic Leaders

On April 27-29 Divisional Clinic Leader staff selection was held at Mt. Hood Meadows. Three new DCLs were selected from the Mt. Hood Meadows staff: Katie Feucht (Alpine), Kelly Howle (Snowboard) and Tracy Thomsen (Snowboard). This was a challenging 3 days and these individuals showed they are top snowsports professionals. Mt. Hood Meadows is stoked to have these pros part of our staff and excited about their continued growth and opportunities for their continued successes! Way to go Katie, Kelly and Tracy!

First Year Full Timers that plan to return Full Time Next Season …

As you know, Mt. Hood Meadows pays your PSIA-AASI member dues if you are a current, full time Ski & Snowboard School instructor. If this is your first year teaching full time and you plan to return next season as a full timer, be sure to complete the PSIA-AASI Member Dues Reimbursement Form. This will entitle you to be reimbursed for your PSIA-AASI member dues that are coming due on June 30, 2018. If you come back to Mt. Hood Meadows and work full time again next season, we’ll reimburse you for your dues (but not the late fees). However, in order to take advantage of this benefit you need to complete this form on the instructor portal – do it now! Go here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/current-staff/full-time-instructor-dues-reimbursement

Summer Work in Alaska

Kirsten Huotte, PSIA-NW Executive Director wanted to share with you a summer job opportunity in Alaska! It is a commercial salmon fishing tender. It works out on the fishing grounds to pick up the salmon from the gillnet fishermen. It is also a support vessel to them if they need anything. It delivers the fish back to town (Ketchikan) a couple times a week. Potential employees need to be able to work well with others, as they will be working together for four months. They will be trained on navigation, driving a boat, working with the fishermen, and working with the cannery, for just a few things. The job would begin in Ketchikan, as the boat is already up there. The boat name is Gene S and David Sheldon is the owner/operator. If anyone is interested in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity David’s contact number is 206.920.6285.

Lastly, we’ll send you emails off and on through the summer. Our summer operations have expanded to 4 days per week, Thursday thru Sunday, so keep an eye out for kids camps, GPS/Orienteering, Scenic Chair Rides / Hikes, and other exciting events for everyone – from kids to adults!

See you this weekend!

Tyler
