Instructor Commitment Levels

As a Meadows Learning Center instructor, you have multiple options to choose from. While both receive a season pass, a major difference between Part Time and Full Time are the wages received. CLICK HERE FOR THE WAGE MATRIX

Understanding The Different MLC Shifts

Day Shift: 2 lesson times: 9:30am & 1:00pm, generally 2 hours each depending on scheduled location

  •  4 hours towards your hourly commitment
  • You may be assigned to help with morning setup on this shift

Night Shift: 1 lesson time: 5:00pm but varies based on programs running each night, generally 2 hours each night

  •  2 hours towards your hourly commitment
  • You may be assigned to help with evening takedown on this shift

Additional duties: “Everyone shovels” – You may be asked to do other duties  including helping in the rental shop, greeting, clearing snow, and others. These are all vital to smooth operations of Meadows Learning Center.

You are responsible for checking your Dayforce schedule to understand when and where you’re expected to work. Missing a shift because you “didn’t know” is not a valid excuse.

For more information on the individual shift commitments, click through the menu below:

Full Time - 4 to 5 Shifts per Week

Shift Commitment:  4 or more day shifts per week, or combine day & night shifts totaling at least 5 shifts per week.

Flexibility: Ideally, schedule is set for the season with the ability to revise as needed.

Total Teaching Hours: Most full time instructors get more than 275 teaching hours, but also have many non-teaching hours too.

Pass Value: Individual All Access season pass for self and dependent(s).

Example:

  • Saturday through Tuesday day shifts = 4 day shifts
  • Wednesday through Sunday day shifts = 5 day shifts
  • Thursday night, Friday day & night, Saturday day, and Sunday day = 5 shifts (3 day shifts and 2 night shifts)
  • “High Achiever” status starts at 150 teaching hours (see below) for Full Time instructors

Part Time - 24 Shifts - 60 teaching hours

Shift Commitment: 24 weekend, holiday AND/OR multi-week program shifts

Flexibility: Schedule is set for the season. Calling out sick can be made up for other weekend shifts. Program shifts require commitment to all 4 days in each program (every Saturday of January for SnoBlasters).

Total Teaching Hours: 60 teaching hours – about 2.5 hours per shift

Pass Value: Individual All Access season pass for self and dependent(s)

Note: Teach 1 lesson every scheduled shift for 3 shifts + teach 2 lessons on 4th shift = meets 60 hour teaching commitment

Part Time - 18 Shifts - 45 teaching hours

Shift Commitment: 18 weekend, Holiday (Christmas Break, MLK Jr. Day, President’s Day) AND/OR multi-week program shifts (weekends or mid-week)

Flexibility: Schedule is set for the season. Program shifts require commitment to all 4 days in each program (every Saturday of January for SnoBlasters)

Total Teaching Hours: 45 teaching hours per season (about 2.5 hours per shift).

Pass Value: Individual All Access season pass for self w/ an option to purchase dependent passes for $100/pass.

Note: Teach 1 lesson every scheduled shift for 3 shifts + teach 2 lessons on 4th shift = meets 45 teaching hour commitment

Part Time - 10 Shift - 28 teaching hours

*** ONLY AVAILABLE FOR INSTRUCTORS WHO HAVE TAUGHT 2 SEASONS & AT LEAST 1 AT MEADOWS ***

Shift Commitment: 10 weekend, holiday, or peak day shifts or consecutive week programs

Total Teaching Hours: 28 teaching hours per season (about 2.8 hours per shift)

Pass Value: 15x Employee Pass – 10 days used for teaching and 5 passes for use on non-teaching days

Notes: A limited number of these shifts exist. If you do not meet this criteria, or have extenuating circumstances, you must have Manager/Director Approval. If you attend a paid training day, request a pass for that day.

10 Shift - Special Use

*** ONLY AVAILABLE FOR INSTRUCTORS WHO HAVE TAUGHT 2 SEASONS & AT LEAST 1 AT MEADOWS ***

Shift Commitment: 10 weekend, holiday, or peak day shifts or consecutive week programs

Total Teaching Hours: 28 teaching hours per season (about 2.8 hours per shift)

Pass Value: Instructor already has a personal All Access or Value Pass. For every 4 hours taught, instructor earns a transferable ticket for a friend or family member.

Note: A limited number of 10 Shift Part Time and Special Use schedules are available. If you do not meet this criteria, or have extenuating circumstances, you must have Manager/Director Approval. If you attend a paid training day, request a pass for that day.

Lift Benefit Considerations for 10 Shift Special Use:

  • Teaching requirement requires contribution on peak days of 4 hours (or a minimum of 2 lessons) to earn transferable ticket
  • Showing up for a scheduled shift and not teaching does not earn a transferable ticket
  • Season goal of 28 teaching hours will enable management to monitor productivity
  • Continued seasonal participation is contingent on meeting goal
  • We will add additional access for day of duty if current pass doesn’t allow
  • Other team member benefits (like meal discounts) can be added to personal pass or added to a team member pass.

Examples:

Team Member has purchased a Value Pass and is scheduled to work on MLK Jr. Day. We would add access to their value pass for that scheduled day when they report for duty that morning.

Pick-Up Shifts – All Instructors

Sometimes we underestimate how many instructors we need on a given day and will request additional help via email or SMS messaging.

How to receive a “Work A Day” voucher:

  • Requested “Pick-Up” shifts can only be an already unscheduled shift
  • If you show up for a requested shift but don’t get a lesson, you still earn a transferable ticket
  • Shift must be scheduled in advance – unscheduled/unsolicited days do not qualify
  • Requested shifts do not apply to the originally submitted schedule
  • You may exchange a scheduled day for your Pick-Up shift: use the Schedule Change Form

High Achiever Incentive Hours

All instructors earn lift passes to share with a friend or family member when:

  • Any Instructor Team Member can reach “High Achiever” Status
  • Part Time instructors – every 4 hours taught beyond the threshold = 1 pass earned
  • Full Time instructors – for every 20 teaching hours beyond the threshold, 1 pass is earned
  • Earns a transferable ticket when working a requested day, regardless of already worked hours, if it is NOT a regularly scheduled day

High Achiever Performance Teaching Hour Status:

  • Full Time – 150+ hours
  • 24 Shift – 80+ hours per season
  • 18 Shift – 60+ hours per season
  • 10 Shift – 45+ hours per season
  • 10 Shift Special Use – every 4 hours taught = 1 voucher
