Hello Amazing MLC Instructors!

Thank you to all who replied to my previous email earlier this week about working this weekend. That offer still stands. Please see below. Also, the Park Grooming Team adjusted the Buttercup Banked Turns so that you should be able to graduate your First Time and Novice level Alpine students to Buttercup sooner than ever before.

Looking for help tomorrow – Day and Evening

President’s Day Weekend starts tomorrow with schools off! Can you help out? We need at least 5 more alpiners for tomorrow. We also need 4 alpiners and 6 snowboarders for Friday evening programs, tomorrow and next week. Really want to help out? Please DO NOT call-in sick unless you’re actually sick. We need you to show up for your shift if you are scheduled and we’d ;love for you to show up if you’re not scheduled to earn a Work A Day Voucher. Thank you!

President’s Day Weekend – All Hands on Deck

This is an “all-hands-on-deck” weekend, and we’d love for you to pick up a shift (or 2) this weekend if you’re not already scheduled. This is also a great weekend to make up for any days you called in “other than sick” and make up any missing teaching hours so you hit your shift and teaching hour commitments We’ve had many instructors land on the injured reserve list so please come if you are able. Just “reply all” to this email and we’ll add you to the schedule. Please specific which day(s) this weekend you are wanting to add to your schedule.

Safety Tips – Sunscreen, Eye-pro and Gloves

Wear sunscreen and eye protection! It’s that time of year when the weather is sunny! You’re in the high alpine, so please wear sunscreen and goggles or sunglasses – you and your students. There is free sunscreen in the CLC and the Program Room, and we do have loaner goggles for kids in both locations too. Don’t let kids go out without eye protection. Wear gloves when handling skis, boards, bamboo, fencing, while doing setup and tear down and while skiing.

Checking My Teaching Hours

There is a Reports menu item available in the DESKTOP (not App) version of Dayforce. Login on a desktop computer either at home or here at the mountain (does not work well when using the browser on your mobile phone), then click/tap on “Reports” on the home screen, then select the report, then click/tap “run” which will allow you to output/download a PDF or Excel document. Check the tutorial on how to do this here:

Guest Comments – You’re Amazing

About Fred: I skied years ago and wanted to get back into it with my husband who is a brand new beginner. We’ve had three group lessons and one semi-private. Our final group session turned out to be basically semi-private as our last group member didn’t make it. Out of our four lessons we’ve had Lynn Hickox twice and Fred Russell twice. I can’t speak highly enough of both of them. They were attentive and professional at all times, gearing the instruction towards our needs and even challenging us a bit past our comfort zones, all within the bounds of our safety and progression. We will definitely look forward to some more lessons as we begin further mountain exploration. For now we’ll gain some ski miles and just have some fun, planning to upgrade our Beginner Progression passes as soon as we can. Also, everyone (and I mean every last person) at the rental center has been super helpful and friendly. I’ll miss them when I have my own gear and won’t see them as much.

About Tiana: Tiana was the best snowboard instructor I have encountered so far – the perfect blend of encouraging, supportive, attentive, and fun. She managed to give everyone in a large group personalized and useful feedback and enabled us all to feel more confident in our skills. I really could not have had a better weekend and hope to come back to this camp every year.

About Oriol: Great lesson! Oriole helped me to progress my turns to get towards parallel turns and really knew exactly what I needed to change in order to progress.

About Vijay: Great instructions my kid did wonderful – patience that I did not have he had and took the time to iron out the kinks – greatly appreciated. Thank you for making skiing fun for my kid.

Yours in snow sports,

Tyler
