5th Grade Ski & Ride Day – Correction – April 10th, 12th, 13th and 17th (not 19th)
Mt. Hood Meadows provides free rentals plus ski and snowboard lessons to Hood River School District fifth graders! We are looking at how we can expand this offering to other school districts. It’s been proven that if you start skiing or snowboarding before the age of 10, you’ll likely do it the rest of your life. Pretty cool, huh? The dates right now are April 10th, 12th, 13th and 17th. This is such a fun lesson to teach because all the kids know each other and their skipping normal school to come to ski and snowboard school! Please signup to work one of these magical days. And you know if you start kids skiing or snowboarding before the age of 12 they are likely to ski and snowboard for the rest of their lives! Join us on these dates – sign up here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/schedule-change-requests

Divisional Clinic Leader (DCL) Tryouts
Some of you may know that Kelly Howle, Tracy Thomsen, Katie Feucht, Rachel Jones and Richard Mario are trying out to become new PSIA-AASI NW Divisional Clinic Leaders at the end of this month. Current DCLs like Kyle Skutch, Tara Seymour and Jaime Clarke-May also must re-tryout. Wish them all well and go out skiing or riding with them as they prepare. This position is like being a trainer for school across the Northwest (Alaska, Northern Idaho, Western Montana and all of Oregon and Washington). These are all very qualified individuals and we are lucky to have them part of our team – wish them well at the tryout!
Specialist Events (April 21-22) @ Meadows
The deadline for the Specialist Workbooks is 2-weeks prior to the on-snow module. If you have not yet signed up for the on-snow modules the time is now to secure a spot. Check the PSIA-NW Event calendar for details: https://www.psia-nw.org/events
Spring Uniform – What’s appropriate? Spring Shirts are in!
The official Ski & Snowboard School uniform pieces are: Green Outer Parka, Green Inner Softshell, Grey Pants. You may wear your own grey pants (if they are close to the same color) or your own black pants. During the Springtime when we have awesome weather (like today), you may wear your personal Hawaiian shirt with a nametag, or a 50th Anniversary Spring T-shirt.
Last year’s yellow 50th Anniversary T-Shirts are OK and available now, or THIS YEAR’S green color Spring T-Shirt (which will be here NEXT week). We have limited quantities of each available in Employee Services, but if you want one of the new colored shirts you’ll have to wait until they arrive or wear your personal Hawaiian shirt for now.
Full Time instructors may pick one up from Employee Services (your name is on a list), or part time instructors may purchase one for $10 – again where? Employee Services. There are some stipulations to wearing the official Spring T-shirt as follows:
o You must wear a nametag!
o NO freeriding in your spring shirt
o NO consuming alcohol in your spring shirt
o NO smoking or using tobacco products in your spring shirt
Please do not wear your parka like a vest or
PSIA-AASI Member School Clinics – what’s this?
If you are a PSIA-AASI member who joined prior to this year and have not yet taken an exam or educational event this season, we are bringing in a few clinicians so you can get your ed credit right here at Meadows. We pay a substantial amount to bring clinicians here. The cost this season is $50 for the all-day clinic and ed credit ($30 if you just want to attend the clinic with no ed credit). Space is limited. Your $50 payment will be due the morning of the clinic – cash, check or credit card payments are fine. HOWEVER, you must sign up in advance to reserve a spot. Please see the links below for details…

Pig Tales – you pay, we tell!
When you pay the pig you must confess too! Here’s some of the latest “pig tales” – so far Jerry has earned $101.40 to put towards the employee party! Liam crashed on Buttercup right under the lift in front of 5 other instructors ($2). Doug Bender, one of our recently anointed Alpine Level IIs crashed on North Canyon ($2). Robin S., flat spin 360s on Vista – crash! ($2). David Miller while in a clinic training for his Alpine Level III crashed at the top of Silver Bowl and his ski popped off and slid all the way to the bottom – he had to slide down the whole run on his bottom carrying his other ski ($1 – out of uniform, humiliation – priceless).
See you this weekend!
