Meal Discount 2014-2015

Employee meals are discounted at 50% at selected locations (listed below).  Discounts are received by visiting Employee Services and loading money onto your season pass/ID. The employee meal discount is provided to allow the discounted purchase of a meal during a regular work day, and is for use by the employee only (not for family or friends).  The maximum allowed on the card is $15 per day worked, with a maximum weekly amount of $75.  For example, if you work two days during a given week, the maximum amount allowed on the card for that week will be $30.  Note that it is up to the employee to monitor days worked vs. amount placed on the card.  Your employee meal money transaction activity will be audited for adherence to company policy.  Usage of employee meal money outside of the parameters will be subject to disciplinary action.

Employee meal discounts are available in the following locations:

·         The Schuss

·         Fresh Tracks Deli

·         Higher Grounds Coffee Cart

·         Comfort Zone

·         The Mazot (no discount on alcohol)

·         Hood River Meadows Lodge – Renaissance Café (no discount on alcohol)

·         Paradise Deck BBQ

ü  No employee loyalty points in any of the Food Service areas

Additionally in the Alpenstube & Vertical Restaurants:

·         10% employee only discount (must present pass/Id at time of purchase) on food purchases only, no alcohol.  The discount does not apply to Après specials.

·         Employees will receive loyalty points in the restaurants (Alp & Vertical) on all purchases (alcohol and Après included)

EMPLOYEE BUS

With the planned opening scheduled for this Friday, we will also plan to begin operating the employee bus from both Sandy and Hood River.

Attached is the bus schedule we will be using for the beginning of the season. I have also attached a copy of the Passenger Code of Conduct and parking maps for our park and ride locations.

Please share this information with your staff and let me know if you have any questions.

A MESSAGE FROM FOOD & BEVERAGE ABOUT LAST CALL

Hello, I would like to include you on the details of an ongoing problem that we have experienced in the bars, and propose a possible solution to you.

Problem:

•             MHM employees (most recently our kitchen staff) trying to order from the bar after last call has already been conducted.  Usually 10-15 minutes after last call is completed, we have employees that have just finished with work trying to get a beverage.  They are being turned away very disappointed.  “We are too late for a beer?  It’s was our first day and we worked really hard.  It looks like everyone at the bar has almost a full beer now anyway.”

Complications:

•             OLCC State Law  Once last call is completed our kitchens close.  Serving any alcohol without having the necessary food offerings is a huge OLCC State Law violation.  It’s not the kind of violation that would give us a $10,000.00 fine or a 10 day sanction, it’s a complete loss of our liquor license indefinitely.

•             Negative guest perception We conduct last call, then we have the late employees show up, our bartenders do try to accommodate (serve) them.  Then I have very upset guests.  “Your bartender wouldn’t serve us.  He told me we missed last call by 10 minutes, then I saw him serve some people after me.”

Solution:

•             Get your order in before last call.  Swing by the bar (on a walk by or on your afternoon break), let the bartender know that you will be coming by when you get done for the day, and give them your last call order.  The bartenders will conduct last call, they will pour the last call items for all of our guests, and then they will pour all of the last call items for our employees.  If it takes the employee 10-15 minutes (should be the maximum time) to get to the bar after last call, no problem.  We are operating within the law, and guests might see a few drinks waiting on the bar, but they won’t be turned away only to see the bartender pour an employee drink after the fact.  This way, when the pouring stops, it stops for everyone alike, guests, employees, Baby Jesus, everyone!

This is an attempt for us to be as accommodating as possible to our employees while still operating responsibly under the law and preventing negative guest perception.  Please talk with your teams about our policy.  We don’t want to continue to have upset and disappointed team members.  Also note that the area will still close as normal, we will expect to have our patrons leaving the area 1 hour after last call.  We typically conduct last call 15 minutes after the mountain closes (we may stay open later as business levels dictate).

Thank you for your time!
