Hello MLC Part Time Instructors!
Thanks to everyone who made it to the mountain today – we were fully staffed and ready for a successful first day of multi-week programs – thanks to you! So many green coats at all the lineups ready to enrich the lives of our guests and team members – you all rock!
Unfortunately all the wind and snow from this storm is causing some significant struggles for both guests traveling to and from Mt. Hood Meadows as well as our lift operations. As of 12:50pm today all lift operations were suspended both due to wind and falling tree hazards. That said, all multi-week program lessons have been postponed for tomorrow. The program start for Sunday programs will officially start on 1/18. So for tomorrow, if you are a part time instructor you may stay home – regardless of whether you are scheduled in programs or elsewhere.
You are welcome to still come up and teach if you’d like, or come to enjoy some of the 20 inches of snow we’ve received since yesterday morning and the 16” that’s forecasted to fall by tomorrow. This storm is going to set us up for success for getting more of your favorite runs covered and more terrain opened up! Our full time instructors and the supervisor / manager team will be here tomorrow, so if you come up we’ll see you then!
While you’re chillin’ out waiting for the lift to re-open tomorrow, I encourage you to take the Extremely Difficult Terrain Safety Protocols Course on the Instructor Portal. Any instructor that plans to take lessons on any treed runs or into any of our gated terrain must compete this on-line course. Plus, this is excellent information to keep you and your buddies safer when free-skiing/riding. The course takes about 30 minutes and is considered paid time if you choose to complete the course.
