Hello fellow instructors past and present:

Please join fellow “ski school” instructors for a special memorial for fallen instructor Terry Burke. We will be placing a stone at the top of Memorial Bowl on Saturday September 29, 2018. Meet at the Mt. Hood Meadows parking lot at “lineup time” – 9:45am. We’ll hike to the top of Memorial Bowl – about a 1,200 vertical foot gain – and place a slate stone at the top of Memorial Bowl, just above the top of Shooting Star, in Terry’s honor. Please dress for the weather and bring snacks / lunch for the hike.

For those of you who did not know Terry: he attended the new instructor hiring clinic (a tryout back then) in 1992, and was hired by Eric Davis, then Ski School Supervisor. Eric introduced Terry to Manon and a “ski school” marriage was inevitable. Terry taught from 1992 to 20016 and was a fixture of professionalism and passion in the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski & Snowboard School.

Manon Burke, Terry’s instructor soul-mate, will be in attendance on Saturday September 29th to celebrate his life with us, and to honor Terry and all those who he influenced through teaching skiing and beyond. It will be a wonderful time to connect with you and others who are passionate about teaching people and are a part of the “ski school” family, just as Terry was.

This event has been organized by Stephen Henrikson, former Mt. Hood Meadows Ski School Manager, long-time friend and instructor. Please join us in this memorial and celebration of Terry’s life. No need to RSVP. Small cash donations of $5 or less to reimburse Henny for the engraving the stone ($140) will be accepted. Family members –  furry and otherwise welcome – Manon and Stephen will have their dogs along for the hike!

Please share this email with others who knew Terry but may not be on our current staff distribution list.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Tyler
