Hello MLC Instructors!

I can’t think of a better place to weather the doom and gloom of the current Covid-19 virus than in the great outdoors here at Mt. Hood Meadows.

I know this is a real threat however being outside, skiing and snowboarding on the side of a volcano is probably the best scenario for the rest of us! You’re outside, you’re probably wearing some face protection and most of your skin is covered up, the lines are shorter this time of year, our mental state is enriched, your physical state is enriched – you can find your own space to get refreshed and stay healthy. Don’t fear – come skiing and snowboarding! Oh, and wash your hands … often.

Not sure if you’ve googled, “ncov19 live” but there are some interesting articles on this website. I’m sure the WHO has great information too, but it’s helpful to see the statistics on those who have are confirmed with the virus and those who have recovered. Check it out here: https://ncov2019.live/

Team Member Appreciation Event – Tonight, Thursday March 12 – CANCELLED

After careful consideration and with the best interest of our team we have decided to cancel tonight’s Appreciation Event. We are choosing to align with many employers and state agencies in Oregon to cancel non-essential work functions at this time due to the focus on limiting exposure to the Covid-19 virus. Even with all the precautionary measures we are taking to protect our team and guests, this is a time to be extra careful, since many of our team live with or are around people in the high risk population.

Call Your Kids Lesson – This is **NEW**

MLC and Lift Op managers met on Sunday and came up with a new protocol that has the lift operators and instructors working together. We alert the lift operator that there are kids lessons loading. Here’s what you do:

·         Instructor to notify lift operator when 2 chair loads ahead of your class are moving towards the loading position, usually after the RFID gates but before the loading point

·         Instructor to call out, “Kids lesson loading 3 chairs!” (if lesson will be loading 3 chairs)

·         Lift operator to call back, “Kids lesson loading 3 chairs!’ confirming that she/he heard and acknowledges

·         Instructor to load last chair of group lesson to insure / observe that all students have loaded

This will bring the Lift Operator’s attention to the kids loading and make them more aware of their position and are now at the ready to assist, slow or stop the lift as needed.  The call back to the instructor will help the MLC staff know that they were heard.

Instructor Gratuities & Comment Cards
Great job handing out comment cards – we’ve seen a huge uptick in guest comments cards coming in. Plus the tip envelopes are working! Take a close look at the photo below for a tip with your name on it!

See you this weekend!
