Hello MLC Instructors!

It was an amazing first day of Spring Break and Pride Day at Meadows. We had sunshine, snow, sunshine, snow, snow, sunshine – typical Spring day! It’s the first day of Oregon Spring Break with most Oregon school off all next week. We’d love for you to pick up a day of two next week if you are available. Be sure to take the All-Resort Team Survey at the link below. Oregon Spring Break Camp is Monday – Wednesday this week – March 25-27 where we have about 120 kids, about 10 adults and a some Freeride kids coming. Even if you cannot work all those days, picking up one day would help. We’ve sold nearly 1,000 Spring Pass Packages, which is a Spring Pass, unlimited rentals through May 18 and 3 group lessons, so we’ll be busy with daily lessons through the end of the season! Tomorrow is the final day of March SnoBlasters and Trail Blazers – where has the season gone?

Oregon Spring Break Help

As mentioned, Oregon Spring Break Camp is Monday – Wednesday this upcoming week, but even if you can only work one of these days, we’d love to have you join us in daily lessons. We expect with these great conditions and kids being out of school that we will be busy. If you want to just “reply all” to this email and let us know what days you’d like to pick up, we’ll add you to the roster.

All-resort Team Member Survey

As our company and departments start to work on strategic planning and improvements for the 2024-25 season, so we want to gather feedback from team members to help us in that process. Competitive wages, the “one wage” in the MLC, and many other resort wide perks and operational changes have come from submitted ideas and comments from you! Please take a few minutes to complete the team survey at the link below. Team member feedback and comments will be used to help us make improvements to your mountain home. This season we are giving the option to add your name, but you may complete the survey anonymously if you are more comfortable. The survey will be open from 3/21/2024 to 4/8/2024. Thank you for your participation in the survey and helping us learn from your feedback.

Extended Season Schedule Submission

We have added 14 additional days to our operating season, and we need your help to cover the lesson demand on these days. This is a great opportunity to pick up shifts to catch up on teaching hours you may have missed as well as ski/ride and teach into late April and May. There has been great late-season demand, and we’re meeting this demand by offering lessons on these extended operational days. Please use the link below to let us know what days you’d like to add to your schedule.

Leveling Up – New CS1s

Please congratulate our newest Children’s Specialists: Walker Bolan, Jeff Ely, Caleb Hilton, Tommy Price and Jeremy Voris. These individuals completed a two-day accreditation which signifies them as Children’s Specialists – where they have obtained skills to connect with and teach Children, who are 70% of our lesson business. Plus they get a pay raise! Congratulations to these awesome instructors!

Warm Springs Day – Friday March 29

Mt. Hood Meadows hosts tribal members from the Warm Springs Tribe for a visit with skiing and snowboarding, including lessons for those who want them, a lunch, etc. We’d love to have you join us on March 29 to help with lessons. If you’d like to join us that day, please reply all to this email and let us know you’d like to work April 29.

Guest Comments – You’re Awesome!

About Daniel Weiskopf: The staff really took care of us today. We really appreciate it. It took so long to get our rental gear that my 9 year old son and I both missed our group lessons. The staff hooked up up with a private lesson for just the two of us. We had a wonderful time with Daniel. My son made some great headway. He will be able to take the skills Daniel worked on with him and co time to use them in the future. It was a great day.

About Sue Luther: Sue Luther was amazing. She really improved my skiing. I am a complete novice but by the end of the lesson, I felt comfortable with the basic skills and I was able to competently navigate the beginner slopes. She explained things in a way what I could understand and was patient with me. She was very attentive to anyone who fell behind and was also extremely kind. I highly recommend her to anyone taking lessons.

About Nic: You folks have amazing instructors. Nic was fabulous – they even used the correct they/them pronouns with my child. That was a huge bonus point. Elijah was my instructor for my other kid and he was all 5’s and a total rad instructor too. Thank you!! This is the type of influence we need for our youth because it makes our kids stoked to ride and grow as riders.

About Vijay: Vijay was an exceptional ski instructor. Our kids really enjoyed their black diamond class and came out learning such good techniques. Thanks Vijay for going above and beyond in training Veer in black diamond slopes! Your attitude, willingness to help kids was truly amazing. Thanks and can’t wait to have you coach Veer again!

See you this weekend!

Tyler
