It was good to see so many of you up on the snow last weekend.

The opening of the lower mountain not only gave us a chance to slide but it provided us with a lot of guests looking to improve their ski and snowboard skills with us. Both adult and the children’s center saw good business over the holiday weekend as well as a few private lessons being taught.

The entire resort is gearing up for another great weekend turning lifts. This will also mean lessons will be taught out of the CLC and the adult lesson area.

Our ski & snowboard school will have a couple of special opportunities this season to work with a group called Northwest Association for Blind Athletes. This group will be visiting at least four times this season to take ski and snowboard lessons with us. Saturday the 5th will be their first visit. I am looking for 7 ski instructors and 3 snowboard instructors for Saturday morning. If you have not had the chance to work with a vision impaired student and would like to please let me know. The rewards are amazing. All that is needed is the passion to share and the ability to speak clear commands. This group will be bring staff member to assist in any way that is needed.

If you are still working on your hiring tasks you now can contact employee services directly for help or to have a task reinstated. Heidi will be the person to contact, her email is Heidi.michel@skihood.com

Many of you know Brandon Pitzer and some may remember Brandon as a fulltime ski instructor before suffering a terrible skiing accident in 2013 that broke his back. After weeks in the hospital and months of rehab Brandon is still dealing with it. Shoulder surgery, physical therapy, the list and the needs goes on. Now Brandon is faced with the finical impact. Little did I know Brandon has a creative side to him as you can see of his artwork.

There is a “go fund me” account for Brandon found at  www.gofundme.com/helpbrandonp  I invite you to view his page.

We will be operating once again over the next three days. The mountain department has been working hard and steady to give our guests a premium product. Scheduled to run Friday – Sunday 9am – 4pm are Ball Room Carpet, Buttercup and Mt. Hood Express.

This will be perfect timing for the new hire training that gets underway on Saturday and the first retuning instructor training clinic on Sunday.

I hope everyone has a great end to their week.

See you all soon.
