Happy holidays, I hope everyone had a great first week of winter break. It is so great to have an awesome snowpack right now with more on the way. The mountain has been seeing near record numbers for skier visits and with skier visits bring lessons to teach. It is some of the best conditions we have seen for a while.
Meadows is in full operation now with night skiing every night through Jan 3rd. The first 3-day camp went every well. Our second 3-day camp will start on Monday Dec 28th. Instructor staffing is not looking as strong as we would like to see it so if anyone has extra availability for day or night shifts we would love to see you. If this is you please send Sue or myself an email and we will get you on the schedule sue.overby@skihood.com
There are already getting to be a big pile of skis and snowboards stacking up around the refrigerator in the lounge. The lounge is for all ski and snowboard school employees to use and enjoy, it is not your locker! Please make it a point to remove this equipment asap!
Everyone heard the message at company orientation on how Mt Hood Meadows largest asset is its employees. The employee stoke continues with allowing all employees to use their employee meal privileges even on days that you are not scheduled on! Pretty cool right! Employees still need to follow the same rules that have been set and is outlined in the company employee handbook.
I will leave you with a company update from Matt Troskey.
Hi all,
This is a week when there is truth to the quote, “It’s not a FREE employee pass; I have to work hard for mine!”
Strong efforts were made everywhere as we went from not open to all venues, all chairs, nights, Nordic, HRM in a short amount of time. Winning! Here are this week’s updates.
Holiday Special Employee Meal Discount
Starting December 26th, the spending limit for employee discount on food will be raised from $25 per day to $30 per day. This increase will be in effect until the 3rd of January, when the limit will return to $25. The food discount limit has been raised to accommodate and recognize those employees working long shifts for the holidays and may be having more than one meal here at the resort.
“Everybody Shovels” & “That trash is mine”
You heard it in orientation, now it’s time to live it. Please pitch in where you can – our usual shovel operators have been getting overrun this past week so this season, consider giving the gift of jumping in and helping.
Snow danger
There have been several snow immersion/tree well incidents in the past few days across the country. Get yourself educated, travel with a partner, and apply good judgment. Here is a good site for starters. http://www.deepsnowsafety.org
Our Core Values – Integrity
Thank you for all of those employees who have been respectful and appreciate the employee shuttle bus. Please gently remind others about what is appropriate topic, tone, and attitude on the bus. Sometimes it is easy to forget that it is still a workplace zone and some people are trying to sleep.
WANTED: Food & Beverage Employees
Do you know someone who could help out this winter? We are still in need of full and part time cooks, cashiers, dishwashers. About 20% of all new employees come from you! Go to skihood.com/jobs for more information on how to apply, or call the HR office, extension 1388
