Hello MLC Instructors!

It’s the tail end of Oregon Spring Break – and the weather is looking good tomorrow with lots of people wanting to take lessons from you! If you can join us tomorrow that would be amazing! We need 2 to 3 Alpine and Snowboard instructors to make the day that much smoother. If you can join us tomorrow (even if it’s just for the morning) please “reply all” to this email and we’ll add you to the schedule. If you pick up tomorrow we’ll add a Work a Day Voucher to your profile – plus each hour you teach puts you that much closer to meeting your teaching hour commitment, or attaining the “high achiever” status.

Reminder – What Does Novice Mean?

If your student is signed up for a Novice lesson, this means they have done this one or two times previously. That is the exact language on our website when signing up or when reserving a Spring Pass Package reservation. It is always a best practice to talk with students, adults and kid alike, to confirm their skills before departing the lesson meeting area. It is also mandatory to start on Ballroom Carpet for all Novice classes. If a student is comfortable practicing making turn on Buttercup, then they are a Green level student, and should potentially be moved into the green class. Take the time to speak with students, kids and adults, during the “line up” time – that is what this time is for! DO NOT take Novice students straight to Buttercup!

Spring Passes ($249) and Spring Pass Packages ($299) – What is this?

Well, this is such an awesome opportunity that you should tell all your students about it. The Spring Pass is just $249 and is good through May 6! The Spring Pass Package is a Spring Pass, unlimited rentals AND three lessons also good through May 6. We are open 7 days per week through April 24, then two bonus weekends through May 6. This is one of the best deals out there, so be sure to share this awesome opportunity with your students! Get the details here: https://www.skihood.com/en/store/season-passes/spring-passes

Buttercup Banked Turns – Version 2.0

TJ Moloney, the Park Grooming Manager, rebuilt the Buttercup Fun Zone Banked Turns – and they are perfect! Please take advantage of this amazing terrain. There are some fun and gentle rollers on top of the Buttercup Fun Zone that flow into the Banked Turns. It’s actually the easiest way down Buttercup rather than going down “the gut”.

Not Going to Make a Shift? Call in vs. Schedule Change Reminder

This time of year we do not have extra staff scheduled so when you don’t make a shift whether it’s because you’re sick, or missed the bus, or had your car break down or just decided not to come to work, this really affects our operation. Your teammates are expecting you to be here for your shift to help out with opening duties, teaching lessons, etc. – and enjoy a run or two together after lessons – guilt free because you worked all day! If you’re going to be sick please call in as far in advance as possible using the form here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/calling-in-sick. Worse-case scenario, you can also send a text message to: 541-378-4858. If you are going to need to change a shift (2 or more days in the future), please use the Schedule Change / Pick Up Shift form here: http://mhm.snowproportal.com/schedule-change-requests

Exit Interviews

Since it is nearly impossible to meet with you all individually about your season takeaways, how things went, etc. we’d love for you to share your season with us in a quick exit interview. If you have fulfilled your schedule commitment and are done teaching for the season, while the season is still fresh in your mind, please complete this exit interview at the link below. Thank you!

Member School Clinic & End of Season Awards Party – Weekend of 4/23-4/24

The Alpine Member School Clinic is scheduled for 4/23 and 4/24 – this is a clinic we offer where we bring in an outside clinician and you can earn your PSIA-AASI Education Credit for the season. We are looking at options for a Snowboard Member School clinic the following weekend if there is interest. Check the clinic calendar for Member School Clinic details … April 23: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/events/alpine-psia-member-school-clinic-4 or April 24: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/events/alpine-psia-member-school-clinic-5

Also plan on either Sunday 4/24 – for the End of Season Instructor Appreciation and Awards Party. We haven’t been able to have this celebration the last two seasons due the pandemic. But it’s looking like we will be able to host the party with awards, food, drinks and comradery. Please set aside Sunday 4/24 to celebrate with us!

Thanks and have a great final weekend of Oregon Spring Break!

Tyler
