Hello MLC Instructors,

I wanted to share with you some sad news from November 9, 2019 that I recently received. Mt. Hood Meadows instructor legend Don Ball passed away in November after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

I know many of you knew Don personally. He was a “ski school supervisor” for many years, sometimes known as the “prince of darkness” as he was the night supervisor too.

The Ballroom Carpet was aptly named after him when it was put into service in 2008 for his years of service and his major influence on first time lesson guests over the many years of teaching thousands of people how to ski.

I realize this is quite late notice for those of you who might want to attend his memorial which is January 11, 2020 in Salem per the attachment. Chris Kastner will be in attendance as well as other long time instructors, supervisors and managers that knew Don. Chris shared with me that he first started working with Don in 1987!

And you may have recalled me quoting Don very recently in an instructor update – words of wisdom from Don:

“Ski more, talk less.”

Tyler
