Hello MHM Instructors!
This is the BIG PRESIDENT’S DAY weekend you’ve all been hearing about. New snow (as much as 30 inches between now and Sunday afternoon), plus partly sunny skies for President’s Day (Monday). If you can pick up a shift this Saturday night, Sunday or Monday this weekend, please do so – we are also open Monday night until 9pm. Add shifts here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/schedule-change-requests
Saturday night is looking very busy with the Toyota “Let’s Go for the Snow” Learn to Ski or Snowboard evening lessons – we already have over 120 students signed up. This is a special promotion for $25 for Lift/Lesson/Rental and we should see big numbers Saturday night so please be ready to enrich people’s lives. If you are scheduled Saturday night plan to work! If you are not scheduled Saturday night and want to pick up some hours teaching, then please be here. And please let us know you’ll pickup this shift here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/schedule-change-requests
President’s Day (Monday) is looking to be extremely busy — please come share your passion with our guests – in fresh new snow and sunny skies. If you are a part time instructor and add this day to your schedule we’ll count it as 1.5 shifts or add a lift ticket voucher to your profile that you can share with a friend or family member. Oh and Heather Canyon is open from A-Zone to the Lift – yes, I said it!

The Vista Experience – Lucky Lady Easiest Way Down
A new cat track has been added just past the entrance of Lucky Lady on the skier’s left. This is the easiest way down off Vista for your green level skiers and riders. Take Vista Ridge to Lucky Lady, to Lucky Lady Cat Track to lower Texas Trail, then down Texas Trail, heading skier’s right toward the top of Easy Rider, then down Mitchell Creek and back to Vista for another lap! This has proven to be the easiest way down and as the Spring conditions improve we’ll see many more green level lessons heading up Vista – check out this route for yourself – it’s pretty awesome. The cat track is a little flat at the moment for the snowboard lessons, but we’re working on improving this our grooming crew.
Speaking of Vista … how about Vista Park! Wow! Those are some huge jumps. If you’re a freestyler you’ll like this – or maybe pucker. No, don’t take your kid’s lessons in Vista Park, but do take them down Lucky Lady! Don’t know where this is? Check the trail map here: https://www.skihood.com/the-mountain/trail-maps
Level I Exam on March 1 – Deadline Friday 2/17
The Level I Alpine and Snowboard Exam that was scheduled for February 22 has been postponed until March 1 (due to lack of sign ups). Meet Jerry the Pig – You owe the pig!
Back in “the day”, when ski school used to be in the lift operations building we used to have a pink porcelain pig that we’d use to collect mandatory donations for the end of the season party for “beverages”. When we moved into the basement of the North Lodge the pig was broken and lost in the move and the tradition ended, but was not forgotten. We are bringing JERRY THE PIG back!
part1.04000004.02020600@elev8interactive.com“>
Here’s how it works … If you are in your “greens” and crash you must, “Pay the Pig!” If you have a “cling-on” on Easy Rider you … “Pay the Pig!” If you say to your College Program class students, “Watch this!” and then proceed to crash and need your student to grab your skis (yes that was me) you … “Pay the Pig Bigtime!” It’s on the honor system and you pay what you can afford. And sometimes you may feel like no one saw you crash – you got up pretty fast and brushed off all that snow – for sure I’m good no one saw (but you know you owe Jerry) … and then you hear, way off in the distance … “Pay the Pig!” from a fellow instructor. Even our students got involved as they heard the story – it’s catchy!
So, you know you owe the pig. And your fellow instructors will let you know when YOU owe Jerry by saying, “Pay the Pig!” Above is Cayce Pitts making his first “payment” to Jerry the Pig! You may pay Jerry at the end of the day when you’re completing your payroll recaps – come meet Jerry and make your payment!
Guest Survey Comments
Below are a few comments from last week’s guest survey:
· Thank you, Amanda, for providing a fun and engaging lesson for Elliot that continued to advance his ski skills. And thank you to the entire Ski School team, who always greets our kids with enthusiasm and kindness. Both of our children (Elliot and Emma) LOVE ski school and look forward to each time we come up to the mountain. Those free adult lift passes are a good bonus too – we’ll keep taking you up on those each time our kids attend Twilight lessons! 🙂
· Cayce: Excellent attitude, great communication, affable, enjoys teaching – truly a good experience and lesson; buttercup x 2 from almost never on skis is wonderful – no falls
· Jo Moore: Great feedback from instructor and he seemed engage with kids.
· Kaitlin was awesome, we were fortunate to have a small class so got plenty of one on one feedback/instruction.
· Micah: He made the experience super fun and I feel like I learned a lot
· Sean Tormey: Sean is amazing and we’d like to have him as an instructor every time
· Mischa: It was a great experience!
· She did a great job (forgot name) making sure that first and foremost my son was having fun and he wants to come back.
