The snow conditions are holding up great. I was able to get out for a few runs yesterday and the groomers were fantastic.

More exciting news for all certified instructors is that Meadows will be hosting serval accreditation clinics on April 23rd – 24th . These clinics will include Children’s Specialist 1, and Free Style Specialist 1 and 2. This is a PSIA/AASI event and will require registering online at www.psia-nw.org

Night operations are coming to an end. Last night was the last Wednesday night and tonight will be the last Thursday night for the season. night operations will continue on Friday – Sunday evening through Sunday March 20th. This also means our evening training clinics will become limited to just 6 more nights. After the night operations are over instructor training clinics will be focused on mornings and afternoons.

Employee bus schedules will also be changing with the end of nights. You will find attached an updated schedule.

We are coming into a busy weekend with a few special events scheduled. If anyone has an opportunity to help out the weekend it would be very much appreciated. There are still a need for instructors to help out with the following,

March 5th the City of Vancouver will be visiting Cooper Spur, we will be looking for 3 snowboard instructors and 1 ski instructor for this group.

March 5th & 6th  Northwest Association for Blind Athletes will be taking a full day lesson. Our need will be 3 snowboard instructors and 4-5 alpine instructors.

Please contact me if you are available to help out.

Back again this year after being cancelled last year is Meadows of “Town Challenge”. Two years ago there was a huge turn out from our instructor staff that had entered this event. it would be great to see that kind of support again this year. Please refer to the note below for specific information on how to get involved. It would be awesome if there were several teams from our department created. Don’t hesitate, pick create team now!

Hello Mt. Hood Meadows staff,

As spring business levels approach and everyone has more time to get out on the hill and ride; put the Town Challenge on our calendar.  The Town Challenge is a race series of 3 March 11, 18 and 26.  The 11th and 18th are night events (4:30-7:30pm) and the finale on the 26 is during the day (10am – 2pm).  The team and individual with the best overall score for all three races will crowned the champion with full bragging rights.

This series is open to both ski and snowboard and will be held in the Banked Slalom on March 11 and Stadium on March 18.  The venue for the 26 will be determined by participant feedback on each of the two venues.  Also during the series finale on the 26th there will be an obstacle course competition in the base area or the race finish area (depending on the race venue).

You can compete as an individual or make up teams of 6 people.  Creating teams is a great way to encourage friendly competition between departments.  Each team members and/or individual does need to register and registration is now available online at https://www.skihood.com/schedule-events/special-events/march1/town-challenge-1 .  Be sure to register for the correct category ski or snowboard.

For those looking to organizes a team please gather 6 friends, family or coworkers, create a name and email me kirt.davis@skihood.com

the team name, and the name of each team member and Mt. dept. if applicable.

A big thank you goes out to our sponsors; Laurelwood, Double Mt. and Everybody’s breweries.
