MLC Instructor Update – First Weekend of April – MLC Instructor Portal

Hello MLC Instructors!

Welcome to April 2021! I can’t believe we only have 21 operating days until the end of the season. It’s been a challenging season, with many silver linings that we plan to carry into non-Covid seasons. The MLC Team has been helping out everywhere and the other departments appreciate our help. Please read on about ….

WA Spring Break Camp – Mon-Wed April 5-7

We need a few more Alpine and Snowboard instructors to work the Washington Spring Break Camp on the upcoming Monday – Wednesday. Even if you can’t work all 3 days, picking up even 1 day would help, as we also need coverage for daily lessons. This is one of the last pushes we need. If you can rearrange your schedule to work any of these days, you’ll earn a Work A Day Voucher to share with a friend or family member and receive $5 of Core Value added to your pass for each day you pick up. Please reply all to this email – we have limited spots on the Kids and Adult Camps that are happening on these 3 days, so those who reply first will get those spots.

All Team Member Bonus – Gross hours x $0.50 / hour

You all received this message via Dayforce, however I wanted to share most of that message here too. With that success we want to take care of our Team Members, for your contribution in making this a triumphant season worthy of celebration.  We believe that our Team needs a break and that many will need a little something to get them through the offseason, so this is what we have decided to do.

Team members in classes C-F (this is an instructor or supervisor) who are on the April 23rd end date payroll and are in good standing (eligible for rehire) OR have fulfilled their seasonal commitment for nights or other departments (i.e. your MLC Teaching Shift Commitment) will be eligible for a “$0.50 per hour worked” bonus starting from hours accumulated from 11/21/20.  The amount will be paid out on the April 29th pay date. We cannot thank you enough for your tenacity and dedication to our success this season and we look forward to seeing how great we can perform when things get back to normal.

This also means, any and all hours you continue to teach, are just making your bonus bigger –so please pick up more shifts. Again, this is gross hours, not just teaching hours – whoop, whoop!

Teaching Hours and Gross Hours Report

Unfortunately the reporting tools for instructors are still not working. Please do NOT ask for multiple teaching hour, and gross hour reports from Kelcey. Once I have the report working for instructors I will let you know. If you send Kelcey, Josey or me and email, we can run the report, but it may take us a few days to get to your request. It would be best if you just waited for me to get that report working so you can run it yourselves. Thank you.

Remaining Scheduled Days – Please Report for Duty

This is the time of year when many people have fulfilled their part time shift commitment, or think they have fulfilled their commitment but are still on the schedule and many of our full time instructors are heading off to their summer gigs. Please check your Dayforce schedule and assignments, as if you are on the schedule we are counting on you being here. We do not have the “extra instructors” we have during the peak of the season, so call ins really affect your fellow instructors. And with many people getting vaccinations, we’ve seen an uptick in call ins for post vaccine fuzziness. If you know you’re going to call in, please let us know well in advance, rather than the morning of, as this causes everyone much unneeded stress.

Covid-19 Vaccines

All Mt. Hood Meadows team members are eligible for vaccination in Hood River county as of this week. On Thursday, the Hood River County Health Department administered over 700 vaccinations, many of which went into the arms of Meadows Team Members! I know for a fact there was a strong showing of MLC Instructors representing at the mass vaccination. If you did not participate in this event, there will be more available in the coming weeks, as all front line employees will be eligible shortly. If you need help getting a vaccine, please see the other email I sent about this topic.

Member School Clinic for PSIA-AASI Ed Credit

We are offering a PSIA-AASI Member School Clinic for education credit on April 23 and 24. You can sign up on the Instructor Portal at the following links: Alpine – mhm.snowproportal.com/events/alpine-psia-member-school-clinic ; Snowboard – mhm.snowproportal.com/events/snowboard-aasi-member-school-clinic-2 – the cost is $55 if you need ed credit, or $35 if you just want to take the clinic with a PSIA-AASI NW Divisional Clinic Leader who does not teach for Mt. Hood Meadows – it’s really cool taking a clinic from someone new! Space is limited, so please sign up early. If you decide not take the clinic, please cancel your spot so someone else can get in.

You need an Ed Credits to maintain your certification status. If you took a 2 day exam or accreditation last season you do NOT need an ed credit this season. If you took a 1 day event last season, then you’ll need an ed credit this season. You can check your ed credit status by logging into https://www.THESNOWPROS.ORG  website and checking in your profile for ed credit details.

Thanks and hope to see you this weekend!
