Instructor Props

If you want to share your observations of greatness or something you learned from a fellow instructor team member – peer to peer praise – you can share it here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/instructor-props

From Frank Palermo in recognition of Claire Thomforde-Garner in overall greatness:
“I substituted for Claire today in snowblasters. Her young students expressed such a remarkable connection with her. She has truly won their hearts. I was honored to substitute for her. Meadows is lucky to have her as an instructor.”

Rod Polintan in recognition of Jacob Garrison,
“This guy has a great attitude. I love to see him out free riding or even teaching. In my experience teaching at MHM, this attitude is not always common. Lol, he helps share the stoke.”

Humaira Falkenberg in recognition of Rudie Kerchal in that I learned something from this person,
“Rudie and I led a first time group of alpine students together. We co taught the first half of the class and an obvious split emerged. He was very patient and supportive to the one student in our group that was struggling and he stay with her the remainder of the lesson. I learned a unique method to get students to turn around on the slope—place ski poles deep in the snow (weight the poles with arms and upper body) well below the outside ski and then shuffle the skis to point in the opposite direction.”

Taking Students in the Parks

If you want to take your students who are ready for the Zoo or the small jumps in Shipyard you must attend the in-house Freestyle Accreditation Clinic. This is paid training will cover all the policies, procedures, dos and don’ts of taking students in the Zoo and Shipyard. Before you can take any students in of the other parks like Fireweed and Forest Park you must have both our in-house Freestyle Accreditation AND at least a PSIA-AASI Freestyle 1 credential. We have had a “students in the park” policy in that past, however this is the policy that must be adhered to from here on out. Please DO NOT take kids in the park unless you have the proper credentials and your students have the proper ability. Don’t know what those abilities are? Come to the Freestyle Accreditation to find out.

Keeping it safe – Please Read – Keep you and your students safety a top priority

A tree well/ snow immersion suffocation accident can happen when a skier or snowboarder falls – usually headfirst – into a tree well or deep loose snow and becomes immobilized and trapped under the snow and suffocates. More Info here: http://www.deepsnowsafety.org/index.php/what-sis
