Hello Amazing MLC Instructors!

Thank you so much for all you’ve done this season to enrich the lives of our guests and team. Your efforts to share your passion and stoke for skiing and snowboarding has impacted the lives of so many in such a positive way. The number of positive guests comments we have received this season is incredible.

Our school (and company) has qualified in the top 3 finalists for the National Ski Area Association Conversion Cup Award for the most innovative approach to welcoming more people to our mountain home. You are an integral part of this effort and I thank you all for your commitment to be part of the success in welcoming new people to skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. We will know mid-May if we have won the award which is presented at the NSAA convention – where ski areas from across the country come together to learn from each other. Given our efforts to reach a diverse group of people as well as the diversity of our offerings, I think we have a very good chance of winning the award.

MLC Awards and Raffle Party this Sunday! – Please RSVP

We’re kick things off at 4:15pm in the Vertical Restaurant(third floor of the North Lodge) on Sunday April 16th. We have a taco bar catered by El Burro Loco and soft drinks! We also have two (2) drink tickets per person for beer and wine (ages 21+) and employee alcoholic beverages after your drink tickets are gone, beer/cider ($3) and wine ($5).

We announce the winners of our End of Season Awards and give out fun, amazing prizes during the raffle. All instructors earned a raffle ticket (and sometimes two) when they picked up shifts this season to help our rad team. Full-time instructors, who toiled all season long, got at least 7 tickets added to the pot for just being awesome.

The party will go until around 6:30pm. There won’t be an employee shuttle/bus leaving after 5:15pm, so instead, find someone to carpool with down the mountain – make new friends and hang out longer!

AWARD NOMINATIONS

And don’t forget to nominate your fellow instructors for an MLC award that we announce during the party!  https://mhm.snowproportal.com/current-staff/award-nomination. We will have a final vote for Co-Worker of the Year, Snowboard Trainer of the Year, and Alpine Trainer of the Year at the party!

Saturday is Pride Day!

MLC instructors are invited to participate in The Pride Day group photo and skiing lap at Noon on Saturday at the top of Mt. Hood Express. You are welcome to represent yourself as an MLC instructor for the photo and ski/ride lap in uniform – however this is a non-paid activity. This is a day on Mt. Hood to celebrate all things pride at Your Mountain Home with our sponsors Migration Brewing and 503 Distilling. We will have a family-friendly party going on in Vertical, as well as beer and cocktails, raffles and more! See you Saturday!

Last Weekend of 7-day a week operation

This is the last weekend finishing up our 7-day a week operation from opening day! After this weekend we switch to weekends only. Meadows operating schedule after this weekend will be: 4/21, 4/22, 4/23 and 4/28, 4/29 then employee ski/ride day on 4/30. Only 5 more days of operations. The season has flown by!

Redeeming Work a Day Vouchers

If you have earned a Work A Day Voucher for picking up more shifts your friend or family member may redeem them at the Sahale Sales counter by saying, “My friend [your name] has a Work A Day Voucher on their profile they have permitted me to redeem.” If someone says this to the Sahale Salesperson, then they received this message from you and the sales team will redeem the voucher and give them a lift ticket. So easy! There is nothing to print out – just give them the secret phrase!

Exit Interviews – Share Your Thoughts

Since it is nearly impossible to meet with you all individually about your season takeaways, how things went, etc. we’d love for you to share your season with us in a quick exit interview. If you have fulfilled your schedule commitment and are done teaching for the season, while the season is still fresh in your mind, please complete this exit interview at the link below. Thank you! Guest Comments – You’re Awesome!

About Ryan Coussens: Ryan did a great job with instruction! I definitely was able to build upon the previous lesson, and apply the new skills I learned today to make it a much smoother ride down the slopes without falling nearly as much as the first time! I feel much more confident in the skills I learned! Great job! Really makes me want to come back and spend more time there!

About Kent N.: Great time! Not only did they support me and my adult colleague from Hood River middle school, they were great with the kids.

About Caden: Caden is a calm, patient teacher. He was encouraging and complementary as I started to understand and perform the riding techniques being taught. At one point during carving exercises, he took a picture of my edge lines left in the snow to show me I was getting it. He makes sure to ask if I have questions. He is thorough answering and explaining items. In general, Caden is enjoyable to ride around the mountain with. When I no longer knew specific items to focus on during our lesson, he had plenty of ideas for new drills. He also knows where on the mountain to go for various exercises, without having us jump all around the mountain too much. Overall, both my wife and I highly recommend Caden.

See you on Sunday for the party!
