Winter 2025-26 Instructor Position Invitation

This email is being sent to those who are being invited back to be an instructor for the 2025-26 season. We are reducing our instructor team size significantly and need to hear from you no later than Monday 8/25 if you’d like to return. Your response will impact our hiring quota (see below).

Once we hear from you we will simply move your application details from last season to this season. No need to login to Dayforce (yet).

• Yes, I’d like to return

• If yes, then include availability: part-time of full-time

Instructor Jobs Post Next Week

We are planning to post instructor positions for applicants new to Mt. Hood Meadows sometime late next week and begin the interview process. We are excited to hire people who are stoked to be here and expect to have all hiring decisions completed by mid-to-late-October.

Some highlights:

• We are reducing our instructor team – both full-time and part-time – by 22%

• Returning instructors will be able to meet shift commitments

• There will be fewer “call offs”

• There will be more individual lockers available

• There will be more opportunities for everyone to teach

• There will be fewer first-season positions available

• There will be limited experienced instructor positions available

John Bailey – Celebration of Life – August 24 @ Mt. Hood Meadows

 A friendly reminder that the Celebration of Life for John Bailey will take place Sunday, August 24 at 12:00pm at Mt. Hood Meadows on the Sahale Deck.

Some updates for the day:

• Please feel free to bring any photos of John that you would like to share. We will have an area to display them.

• Those who are able and interested will have an option to hike after lunch to the top of Memorial Bowl to remember John there, too.

• Lift tickets will be provided to get you up to the top of Stadium. Even if you cannot do the hike, the scenic chair ride will be great place to remember John.

• The hike from the top of Stadium is about 1.5 miles one-way uphill to Memorial Bowl, following both hiking trails and summer service roads.

• Non-Meadows vehicles are not allowed on service roads.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to an adaptive instructor scholarship fund in John’s name that we are working on setting up with Mt. Hood Meadows. Details TBA.

Dog Days of Summer at Mt. Hood Meadows

The official “dog days of summer” are traditionally the 40 days from July 3rd to August 11th, so we are technically just past the “dog days”. This period is named after the star Sirius, also known as the Dog Star, which is part of the constellation Canis Major (Large Dog). In ancient times, people believed that the heat of Sirius, rising with the sun, added to the sun’s heat and caused the particularly hot and humid weather of this period. Today, the term is simply linked to hot days and lazy afternoons.
