Hello Post News!
We might get some snow late Sunday. This is the last weekend of January Program Lessons. We have 57 Youth Daily Lessons, 33 Adult Daily Lessons and 18 Night Lessons – this is light lesson volume for a weekend day in January so if you got another No Work Available this is why!
Daily Lesson Line-up Best Practices
• Interview your students (kids and adults) to confirm their ability level and goals – this is what is part of the line up time!
• If they are Novice students, check whether this is their first, second or third Novice lesson – this makes a huge difference!
• Novice students should be moved within the Novice category to meet the goals of the students
• Some are “Novice 1s” (this is their second lesson ever) and some are “Novice 2s” (this is their 2nd or 3rd Novice lesson) – THESE ARE VERY DIFFERENT STUDENTS!
• Novice lesson instructors should work together to determine the best fit for their students, which may require some moving of students between the Novice instructors.
• This is part of your duty as an instructor – to help students succeed by being in the right class to begin with.
• Be tactful and base the move on what will provide the ideal experience for the student – DO NOT say, “This person needs to move to a higher/lower class.” -this is not good People Skills!
• During an interview, if it is discovered that students are possibly in the wrong group lesson ability level based on your interview, please check in with the supervisor so we can assign your students to the class they will learn the most, have the most success and fun!
• Be sure to check your students’ equipment to make sure boots fit bindings for both ski and snowboard lessons
• All Adult lesson guests should have poles
• Youth lessons students ages 7 and up should also have poles when your youth student is able to hold on to their pole without you taking it away by pulling on it when they are gripping it (within reason).
