As a PSIA-AASI Level 1, 2 or 3 member you can literally “walk on” to any school across the country. Why any certified member, especially those with a Level 2 or Level 3 certification, would let their membership lapse for more than 1 season is a mistake, unless they are just not skiing anymore. If you happen to be one of these members in this situation you have some options.

There are tons a great member benefits available to current members!

Level 1, 2 or 3 Certified Members not Current in Dues

If you are PSIA-AASI Certified Level 1, 2 or 3 Member who has not yet paid this season’s or last season’s dues you can maintain your level of certification by simply paying this season’s dues ($50 NW dues, $61 National dues + $30 late fees). If you did not pay last season or this season you’ll just pay both season’s dues at once to become “current.”

If you have not attended a PSIA-AASI Education event in the past two years, there is a $35 education credit fee that may apply. You can “get current” with ed credits by attending: 1.) a New Pro Let’s Go event (if you are a “new member” for 2 seasons or less) or 2.) PSIA-NW “calendared” event or 3.) Member School Clinic (usually held in the Spring at Mt Hood Meadows).

Call the PSIA-NW office and renew your membership over the phone by credit card. Phone PSIA-NW at (206) 244-8541 to renew your membership. Minimum total cost (if only 1 season past due): $141

Level 2 or 3 Certified Members 2-5 Years Delinquent in Dues

  1. Pay Reinstatement Fee: $282
  2. Pay Current Season Dues + Late Fees: $141
  3. Attend a multi-day event or (2) 1 Day Calendared Events – cannot be a member school clinic (min fees are around $140)

End result: Attended 2 days of awesome clinics with PSIA-AASI clinic leaders, now current in dues and receives all member benefits, reinstated at the level the member was when they became delinquent. This is the BEST OPTION for any Level 3 member (or a Level 2 member who does NOT want to take an exam). Min total cost: $563.

Level 2 Member – something to consider. For example, a Level 2 member who is delinquent might just want to re-certify because it will be less expensive, but they will have to take the exam. This year they could just rejoin ($111), take the Level 1 Exam ($25), take the Level 2 written ($20), take the Level 2 Exam modules ($230), but would have to meet the current Level 2 standards. Min total cost: $386.

Level 2 or 3 Certified Members 6 or More Years Delinquent in Dues

  1. Pay Reinstatement Fee: $282
  2. Pay Current Season Dues + Late Fees: $141
  3. Take and Pass the Written Exam for the Level they are reinstating at ($20)
  4. Take and Pass the Skiing/Riding Exam module ($115)
  5. Take and Pass the Teaching/Professional Knowledge Exam Module ($115)

End result: Becomes a current member with no recorded lapse in membership, has access to all member benefits, reinstated at the level the member was when they became delinquent. This option is beneficial particularly to a Level 3 Member who meets the current Level 3 standards. This is a fast track option to getting their Level 3 certification back in a single season. If they fail the exam, they are reinstated as a Level 1 Member. Min total Cost: $673.

Otherwise a prior Level 3 certified member could just join the ORG ($111) and take their Level 1 ($25) , take and pass their Level 2 ($250), wait 1 year, take and pass their Level 3 ($250). Less expensive, takes two seasons minimum, must take all exam modules. Min total cost: $636.

A Level 2 member who is delinquent might just want to re-certify instead of re-instate because it will be less expensive. In a single season a well-prepared person could just rejoin ($111), take the Level 1 Exam ($25), take the Level 2 written ($20), take and pass the Level 2 Exam modules ($230). Min total cost: $386.

Cost Comparison Note: Costs reflect the fees paid however since there is typically travel time and lodging associated with an exam, actual costs may be higher.

In doing a cost comparison, the reinstatement fees are actually less than what a continuous member would have paid. Example: Three years of continuous Level 1 certified membership is around $407. Five years of continuous Level 2 certified membership is around $767. In both cases reinstatement is less expensive.
