Hello All,

Happy Holiday Break!  We are really gearing up for the second week of Holiday Break.  It is going to be busy and we couldn’t be happier.  Please make sure to check your schedule to see where you are assigned for the day and be ready to help out where needed.  The weather has been great and we are looking at a White Christmas and first day of Hanukah.  We have been enjoying your smiling faces and can’t wait to see more of them.  Here is the weekly update:

Scheduling Needs

·        POS Help – We are looking for Instructors who would be willing to learn how to work a Point Of Sale over the Holiday Break and some Weekends before the AM lesson goes out.  If you are interested, please email: Lisa.Cordie@skihood.com or Mark or Josey to let them know of your interest and schedule.

·        Help over the Holiday Break – We are looking a little short over the Holiday period, especially on Dec 30th and Jan 2nd.  If anyone is interested in picking up a shift, please let a Supervisor or Manager know what day.

Upcoming Events

·        World’s Largest Lesson on January 6thWe will be trying for the World’s Largest Lesson again this year!  Last year we were the biggest on the West Coast at 197 people and we are shooting for at least 300 people this year.

o   Guests can purchase the product online for $20 (This is a first time lesson only.)

o   If you would like to be a part of this, please email Mark.Fischer@skihood.com or Josey.Rice@skihood.com.

Clinics

·        Rehire & Paid Clinics –

o   There will be “rehire” and “paid trainings” offered during the evening clinic hours after the Holiday Break

o   We have moved up the evening clinic time to 3:45pm, so that people do not have to wait around until 4pm, and those who are scheduled to work can get an hour of voluntary clinic time in before the evening lineup time (which is now 4:45pm in Adults)

o   As a reminder, please do not sign up to attend a paid training clinic that conflicts with your scheduled shift. (If you are scheduled for a day shift, you can still sign up for a night Clinic)

·       Level 1 Certification Exams – We will be starting out our Level 1 Certification Training sessions in early January. This is a (4) 2-hour clinic curriculum that is required for you to attend if you are planning to take your Level 1 exam this season.

o  We have scheduled the first Level 1 exam for February 26, 2017. This will give you time to join PSIA-AASI (and MHM will cover this membership fee for Full Timers who want to join after February 15, 2017 – yay!).

o  For whomever wants to take the Level 1 exam prior to February 15, we can look into scheduling an earlier exam – please email tyler.barnes@skihood.com if you are one of these people – we would need 6 people who are looking for this option.

Extras

·        $50 for 50 – it’s been great seeing all the names of our instructors that have invited our friends to come and work with us this year.  We want you to get paid so make sure to fill out a form in Human Resources.

·         Progression Pass – Please remember that if your client has bought the 3 time learn to Begennir package or the Progeression Pass, they are only allowed on the following lifts: Ballroom Carpet, Buttercup, Easy Rider, Vista and Daisy.

o   If they are in your lesson, they still cannot go on any other lift, so please make sure to ask your group before you leave the meeting area.

·        Secure Your Gear – Unfortunately, in speaking with the MHM Department of Public Safety, we have seen equipment and accessories go missing already this season – from goggles to gloves and more.

o   Please lock your lockers and do not leave equipment in the Ski & Ride School Lounge unattended overnight.

o   We may be changing key code to the instructor lounge  in the coming days (if this happens, we will email you with the new code)and please do not share this code with anyone outside of the Ski & Ride School staff.

·        Business Cards – Order them NOW!

o   A bulk order of 30 cards has already been sent in and will be here before the end of this week. If you did NOT get your order in (especially full timers since we cover your first order), then go to the instructor portal and get your card order in.  Go here: https://mhm.snowproportal.com/current-staff/self-promotion-tools/bulk-business-order-28

·         No complaints here. I wanted to let you know that I had one of the best days of skiing last week. I haven’t been on the mountain in decades and decided to buy a season’s pass. The rental shop was fantastic and they talked me into a lesson. I spent 2 hours with Greg DeHaven in the afternoon. I learned more during that time, than any other lesson I have ever had. He was fantastic. He completely changed my attitude towards the skis, my position over them, and how to ski again. I am practicing what I learned and will be back for another lesson, probably after the new year. Thank you so much.

·        Give Instructor John Bailey a Platinum Star! My teenage daughter and her friend had a wonderful 2 hour (11:30-1:45) lesson on Sunday.
