Freestyle Specialist 1 Prep – Alpine

These clinics are alpine/snowboard specific so make sure you’re signing up for the right discipline!

Preparing for the PSIA/AASI Freestyle Specialist 1? Just want to improve your freestyle skiing/riding? Come ski/ride with our freestyle trainers!

We offer a series of 4 clinics, each one highlighting a specific part of the FS1. Each clinic must be completed before signing up for FS 1 exam. We have: flatland movements, jump day, box day and teach day. Preferably instructors will start with flatland movements and end with teaching. Box day and jump day ideally in between. Instructors may need to repeat one (or more) clinics before being signed off by Aden, Ryan, Nic, Alex, Caleb, Kyle, and Matt. We want to ensure instructors are meeting or are above the FS 1 standards (listed below) before signing up for the FS1.

Freestyle Specialist 1 Standards:

Skiing/Riding:

• Basic skidded medium radius switch turns on green terrain
• Perform straight airs over small natural or man-made features
• Spin 180s – both clockwise and counterclockwise – off small jump features
• Perform ollies, and both clockwise and counterclockwise on-snow spins and butters
• Ride onto and off a sliding feature with a rotational or pressure move
• At the top of the transition zone in a halfpipe or alternative transitional feature, demonstrate the ability to use appropriate flexion/extension movements for a halfpipe air trajectory and make an edge change near the turn apex
• Perform an alley-oop in a halfpipe or alternative transition feature
